For those of you who already know us, well. . . Anyway, here's what we look like and a little something about each of us. Most of the information has, of course, been fabricated.
This
is Brad with his son, Nicholai. For you FSG groupies out there, yes,
this is a more recent picture of the dynamic duo. As always, they
are manning the Flagship Games booth in the dealer's room, a fate they
are destined to undertake for eternity (muah-ha-ha-ha-ha!). Little
Nick is a big help at conventions, being particularly fond of rolling dice
for just about anyone. Rumor has it that he wants to be Bulbasaur
when he grows up.
Brad has been with Flagship Games for quite a few years, having worked on Mecha! when it was published way back in 1991. This was before the company was called Flagship Games, having the not inappropriate title of Seventh Street Games. Anyway, that's another story. . .
Brad is our resident math whiz and number cruncher. If you ever need anyone to playtest a game, he's your man. He can find loopholes like no body else, which is a good thing if you are trying to design a fair and fun game.
Brad is currently working on putting the final touches
to Starship!, the next release from Flagship Games.
The
gentlemen in the bicorne, suspenders and liederhossen is Thomas.
This picture was taken at Conquest '98 (aka Conquest I), during the Battle
of Cadiz Harbor scenario that Thomas was running. He scratch built
the entire harbor, including fortifications. As always, it was cooler
than anything I (or most anyone) could have done, and had about 20 players
participating in the mayhem.
Thomas is the artistic talent here at Flagship Games. Don't get me wrong, Brad and I can turn out a decently painted figure, and Brad even does some sculpting, but it's Thomas that turns out the cool Pirate ships, ordnance, and the horde of other figures and models that we produce. He also draws, paints, and he has an attractive wife to boot. Some guys have all the luck!
Thomas is the genius behind Pirates!, perhaps the coolest game on the planet. He is also working on Buggies, Bikes and Trikes, and has been kind enough to paint a small horde of 15mm Samurai to help me playtest Taiko!
This
is me, Rod, with my best friend and daughter, Karly. She's the one
with the pirate hat steering the ship's wheel you may have seen on our
"under construction" page. This picture was taken on her fourth birthday
when I took her to Disneyland for the very first time. Being a single
dad is a lot of work, but having a great daughter like Karly makes it all
worthwhile.
What's my schtick? Well, I was asked to be a partner here at Flagship less than a year ago. Thomas and Brad had too much to do and they needed someone who could write. Having just passed remedial English, I was their first choice. . .
I am currently editing Starship and Rampant Colonialism,
both of which will hopefully go to print soon. I am also responsible
for such zaniness as The Action Figure Game, Score, Warlord Zmerphs of
The Apocalypse, and Avenging Einstein. I am also a founding member
of the Chico Game Club, which I am loathe to admit in public.
