The Hunt for Dickey-Moe
• PART 1 •

King Hasalot Offers a Bounty for the Captain Who Brings in Dickey-Moe, Scourge of the Seas!

Two dozen brave (or perhaps foolhardy?) captains have answered the summons of King Hasalot.  The man who brings back the head of Dickey-Moe, the most ferocious sea monster known, shall have 1,000 crowns and a full pardon for any past crimes!

Converging from ports around the globe, these reckless adventurers arrive at the Baldavian Keyes almost simultaneously.  The order to load guns is quickly given, when the crest of Dicky-Moe's giant dorsal fin breaks the surface of the waves.  Even the bravest sailor must catch his breath at the magnificent site of the beast, a giant shark longer then the mightiest Galleon!

The vessels come to claim the prize were too numerous to count.  Snaggle Von Bizmarque of the Rapacious Goblins Clan had come in his mighty submersible, the Snapper Organs.  His crew of stalwart and brave Goblins were well known for their barbarity and short attention spans.

The Baldavian Keyes are known for their numerous small islands, some of them inhabited as this one appeared to be.  However, it appears that the occupants had left in a hurry, perhaps when they sited the huge armada headed their way!  They left so quickly that they forgot their stone thrower, and their ship, a galliot!

It turned out that the huts on this island were full of loot, just waiting to be taken by the first lucky pirate to set foot on the island!  Unfortunately, there was to be some dispute as to whom was the first, as will be seen later. . .

Dickey-Moe's dorsal fin breaks through the waves!

Pirates, after all, will be pirates, and it was not long before the shooting commenced.  Each captain swore that he would be the one to claim Dickey-Moe's head, and as far as he was concerned, the other captains were just some unnecessary competition.  The first shot was fired by the Snapper Organs; a torpedo was launched straight for the Ice Dwarf ship, The Amana.  The torpedo struck home, along with several cannon blasts from nearby ships, and pierced the Amana's powder magazine.  Boom!  When the smoke and fire cleared, the Amana was still afloat, albeit barely.  Fortunately, most of the powder had been too wet to ignite.   Unfortunately, the Amana was only left with but one good shot, effectively taking her out of the running.

The carnage almost instantly became more wide spread.  The pirate captains were so caught up in the adrenaline rush of combat that most of them had all but forgotten about Dickey-Moe and the bounty.  Here, the mighty Hulk, The Hammerhead, collides with a Chaos galley, while a Dwarven Cog bobs nearby, its mast having been blown off by a bombard blast.

The Hulk survived the collision, and sent marines to board the galley, and, in spite of their evil power, the Chaos ship was quickly overwhelmed by superior numbers.

Just when it looked like things couldn't get any more chaotic, they got more chaotic. . .  The captain of an Undead galley gave the order to ram a nearby sloop, manned by a small human crew.  All would have gone well (for the Undead), were it not for the simultaneously surfacing of the Orc submersible, the Snapper Organs, which came up right smack in the middle of the two ships just seconds before the moment of impact!

Splinters of wood and shards of metal were flung everywhere in the spectacular three-way collision.  All the crew below decks were lost as their ships quickly sank below the waves.  All hands were lost on the Snapper Organs as the hatch was bent shut, allowing none of the crew to escape.  Those on the other ships whom were able swam for the nearest island, or clung to the remains of their ships, helpless.
