The Carrack!
A Mighty Vessel!
The Carrack is a large ship, slower than most others,
but capable of carrying a large compliment of ordnance,
crew and marines. A great flagship for your
Pirates! fleet!
25mm, historically accurate sailed vessel.
FLAGSHIP PRODUCT #4701
Dimensions (approximate): 13"x4.25"
Models supplied unpainted and without crew.
Carrack Stats
The carrack is in the same class at the large
galleon and galleas. Not
as fast or maneuverable as it's smaller cousins, the galleon
and sloop, it makes up for what it lacks
in speed and maneuverability with mass and firepower! The carrack's
greatest strength is it's high fore and aft castles, which marines can
use to rain small arms fire down onto the decks of nearby enemy ships.
The carrack can mount ordnance as follows:
-
Bow: On the upper castle - One piece of heavy (or smaller)
ordnance on deck facing either forward, port or starboard; Below decks
- plus one piece of heavy ordnance (or smaller) facing forward below decks,
which must be crewed by crew below deck. The captain may choose to
mount up to two pieces of trunnion mounted ordnance in lieu of the deck
mounted heavy ordnance, one on each side of the ship.
-
Main: Two pieces of heavy (or smaller) ordnance facing
port and/or starboard, for a maximum of four, two facing each side.
-
Mizzen: One piece of heavy (or smaller) ordnance on
deck facing port and/or starboard for a maximum of two pieces, one facing
each side; plus one piece of heavy ordnance (or smaller) facing port and/or
starboard below decks for a maximum of two pieces (this piece must be manned
by below decks crew).
-
Stern: One piece of trunnion mounted ordnance facing
port and/or starboard, for a maximum of two pieces of trunion mounted ordnance.
When we say, "port and/or starboard", we mean that that many
pieces of ordnance can be mounted in each direction. For example,
a carrack may mount two pieces of heavy ordnance in its mizzen section
facing port, and two pieces facing starboard.
